Article by Doug Chaltry; last updated 5 June 2008.

This set includes the following markings:

  • M4A1, 741st Tank Battalion, Omaha Beach, 1944, "Cannon Ball" (conflicting unit information in other references)
  • M4A3, 12th Armored Division, 23rd Tank Battalion, Germany, January 1945, "Bar Fly"
  • M4A3, 2nd Reg de Cuirassiers, 3rd Inf Div Algerienne, "Fabert"
  • M4A3, 2nd Reg de Cuirassiers, 3rd Inf Div Algerienne, 2nd Escuadron, "Valenciennes"
  • M4A3E2, 4th Armored Division, 37th Tank Battalion, C Company, Bastogne 1944, "Cobra King - First in Bastogne"

Generally speaking, Peddinghaus decals are not printed to the same standard as those from other companies. Their printing technique is a little primative, with very distinct ink dots from the low resolution printing. Also, the markings are printed on a continuous sheet of decal paper, so the carrier film around each decal will need to be closely cropped. Something funky happened with the printing around the white markings on the left side of the sheet, giving them all a dirty edge. Not sure how this will look on the model.

I had to heavily adjust the brightness and contrast on this scan to make the white markings legible. The colors on the real decals are a bit brighter and more vivid, with the dark stars actually being dark green instead of black as they appear here.
